Day 2’s challenge is to promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them.

#1. Archive of Our Own (AO3) has become my favorite place to read and post fics lately. It’s easy to use, has a good search filter, and a nice commenting/kudos system. I’m sure lots of people are reccing this, but I think it deserves lots of praise, they really have done a fantastic job.

#2. A Teaspoon and an Open Mind is a Doctor Who fic archive and my favorite place to find Who fic. Tons of great stories there across all eras, plus Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures.

#3. Second Life. It’s not just sex clubs and Gorean slaves. 😉 Second Life has lots of fandom-type stuff, in the form of roleplay and themed sims (sims are the base land areas in SL, and sims can be connected to form continents). I “live” on a Victorian steampunk-themed continent, and also hang out on a fantasy sim. You can find roleplay or themed sims based on settings like Tolkien, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Lovecraft, etc., plus original settings in fantasy, sci-fi, historical, steampunk, urban fantasy, pirates, Old West, furry, vampires, etc. Second Life depends on creators: just about everything you see or can buy in SL was made by a fellow member, and SL allows you to create things easily inworld. I even built my house myself (a replica of the Torchwood House from the werewolf episode of Doctor Who 😀 ). If anyone on my friends list wants to try out SL, leave a comment, PM me, or send an email, and we can arrange to meet inworld. I’ll give you a tour and help you find whatever you’re interested in!
