Day 10’s challenge is to create a list of at least three fannish things you’d love to receive, something you’ve wanted but were afraid to ask for – a fannish wish-list of sorts.

#1. Fanart is always cool. I can always go for some Hal/Kyle (Green Lantern) art. And I’d love love love some of Scotty/Len (my OFC in the Star Trek fic).

#2. Derivative works of my derivative works. Someone had once talked to me (years and years ago) about doing a spin-off of my GL Pirate AU, but I don’t know if it ever happened. It had sounded really cool, too. 🙁  If anyone wants to write in any of my story universes, please do! You don’t even have to ask permission (though I’d love to know about it so I can read it!), I just ask for a credit for whatever original characters/elements are borrowed and a link back to the original story. A more detailed explanation of my views is in this post.

#3. Don’t be a Total Fuckwad (aka, The Wish for World Peace). Treat your fellow creators with respect, even if they’re not very good at writing/art/whatever. Focus on encouraging the good points rather than ripping apart the bad points. Arrogant “constructive” criticism doesn’t make you look helpful or knowledgeable, it just makes you look like an asshole. If you don’t have anything positive or encouraging to say to them, then close the browser window and move on with your life. Put yourself in someone else’s shoes. Before you lash out at the owner of an archive or website because something isn’t working, think about that they’re a human being (most likely a volunteer) who has real life responsibilities that take priority over fandom. It could be only one person supporting the site, so don’t expect a 24-hour customer support call center. Remember that fandom is supposed to be fun, not a fucking job!
